At night we visited the Blowhole and Remarkable Cave, two sites where the sea is so apparently eating away at the coast. Entering the cave at night where all light from the sky is blocked out feels oppressive as the earth surrounds and swallows you. Waves surge and roar forward and back invisibly in the dark, the point where land ends and sea begins shifts uncertainly. Sounds are the only clue and these are distorted by the cave so that the waves sound engulfing, amplifying the sense of oppression. Creating light using torches and cameras became our focus. Afterwards, lying on the sand at the cave entrance, we soaked up the light in the night sky, sensing infinity.
